Faith Christian soccer wins
RAMSEUR – Faith Christian School’s soccer team raced to a 4-1 victory over Grace Christian in the first round of the state playoffs. Improving to 13-3 on the season, the Eagles were paced by Adam Edmisten with a pair of goals and an assist. Other leaders were Ethan Joyce with a goal and assist and Clay Whitley with a goal. The action took place last weekend in the North Carolina Christian School Athletic Association tournament. Earlier, the Eagles notched a 1-0 win over Vandalia Christian School. Edmisten scored the lone goal on an assist from Joyce. Taylor Grubb posted the shutout in goal.
Eagles netters advance
RAMSEUR – The Faith Christian School volleyball squad defeated Lee Christian in the first round of the state playoffs. The Eagles captured a 25-13, 25-9, 15-25, 25-22 decision to improve to 8-9 on the year. Brooke Davis led the win with 10 points, four aces and 12 kills. Victoria Boggs notched 10 kills while Meredith Davis had 11 points and Jessica Jarrett posted eight points and eight kills. Earlier, the Eagles varsity squad dropped a 25-13, 25-13, 25-12 verdict to Liberty Christian while the jayvees were defeated 25-15, 25-16 to slip to a 7-6 mark. The varsity netters captured a 25-23, 25-26, 25-13 win over Vandalia Christian. Boggs had six kills and four blocks while Davis posted 15 points and Lindsey Kilby added six assists.
Wildcat spikers third in tourney
RAMSEUR – Eastern Randolph lost to Asheboro in the semifinals of the Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference volleyball tournament last week. The Blue Comets were then defeated in the finals by regular season champion Southwestern Randolph on scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.
In the semifinals, Asheboro captured a 25-18, 25-22, 12-25, 25-13 victory as the Wildcats slipped to a 16-7 record. Kaitlen Poe led ERHS with 16 kills and 18 digs while Kayla Saliga had 10 kills and six digs. Whitney Routh added four aces with Oliva Link posting 13 digs. Second-seeded Asheboro was paced by Megan Gallimore with 18 kills and 13 blocks. Marci Cranford collected 16 blocks and Kaitlin Thompson had 11. Kaci Chriscoe had 27 digs.
In the opening round, ER rolled up a 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 verdict over Randleman. Courtney Kivett paced the win with 16 kills and 22 digs. Saliga chipped in 17 kills and Anna Karam added 11 kills and seven digs. Routh posted 33 assists and 11 digs. Randleman was led by Abby Cannon with six kills and two blocks, Jessica Crotts with five kills and Meka Hoover with three kills.
