RAMSEUR - Belva Ella Porter Boggs, 87, of 4804 Moffitt Mill Road, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her home.
A memorial service was held May 13, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Evangelist Steve York officiating.She was a native of Wilkes County, retired from L Ranch Shop and a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Lois Heaton of Asheboro; son, Darrell Nolen of Flint Hill; sister, Annie Staley of Seagrove; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

FRANKLINVILLE - George Ray Bowman, 72, of 2323 Sandy Lake Drive, Franklinville, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
The funeral was held May 8, 2008, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. James Moore and the Rev. Fred Rife officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Surry County, retired from Randolph County Schools and a member of Plain View Baptist Church in McLeansville.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Burrow Bowman of the home; sons, Russell Bowman of Graham and Mark Bowman of the home; daughter, Lisa Bowman Anderson of Franklinville; brothers, Gray Bowman of McLeansville, Tom Bowman of Julian, Bill Bowman of Pleasant Garden; sister, Sally Bowman Isley of Gibsonville; four grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Samuel Jackson Brown, 77, of Kennedy Country Drive, died Thursday May 8, 2008, at the VA Hospital in Durham.
A private memorial service was held.
He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Betty Sink Brown, retired from Rampon Products and was U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
Surviving are his brother, Cleo Brown of Asheboro; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at May 12, 2008, at Eddie's Family Funeral Home with Brother J.J. Stowe officiating. Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery. He was a native of Mountain Home, Ark., and was a self-employed communications installer.

WILMINGTON - Ottie Katherine Bingham Cox, 94, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, in Wilmington.
The funeral was held May 8, 2008, at Asheboro Friends Meeting. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She was the widow of Arley Monroe Cox, retired from Bossong Hosiery Mill and Moffet Knitting Mills and was a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting.
Surviving are her daughter, Sara Cox Cates of Wilmington.

SOPHIA - William Carl Dunlap, 71, of Sophia, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.
The funeral was held May 9, 2008, at Cumby Family Funeral Service Chapel in Archdale with the Rev. Randall Macon officiating.
Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Patricia Eberly, attended Glenola Baptist Church, was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was retired from Drexel Heritage.
Surviving are his daughters, Debbie Whitley and Carmen Goodwin, both of Sophia; sister, Juanita Joyner of High Point; brothers, C.B. Dunlap of Florida and Joe Dunlap of Speedwell, Va.; one grandchild.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from the U.S. Army and Hess Oil Company, was a charter member of Randolph Hills United Methodist Church and coached Little League baseball.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Hinshaw of the home; daughter, Julia Hepler of Thomasville; sons, Jimmy Gunter of Asheboro and Jeff Gunter of Randleman; sister, Helen Core of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

She was a native Elm City, the widow of Howard Monroe Linthicum, served as librarian for the Randleman Public Library, was formerly employed at Salem Neckwear and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Randleman.
Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl L. Triplett of Burlington, Marion Clark of Kernersville, Voncyle Linthicum of Tallahassee, Fla., and Sara Helen Gerlach of Rego Park, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Shelby, the widow of Denny Weddle, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
