The Rev. Harold Auler Jr.

ASHEBORO - The Rev. Harold Nicholas Auler Jr., 88, died May 1, 2008.

A memorial service was held May 3, 2008, at Spoon's Chapel Christian Church with the Rev. John Auler officiating.

He was a native of St. Louis, Mo., attended Eden Seminary, served as a missionary in Honduras and as a pastor in Ramseur.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Auler; daughter, Beth Williams; sons, David Auler and the Rev. John Auler; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Harold Auler Missionary Fund, c/o Spoon's Chapel Christian Church, 1838 Spoon's Chapel Church Road, Asheboro, N.C. 27205.

Larry T. Brower

ASHEBORO - Larry Thomas Brower, 63, of 1236B Old Liberty Road, Asheboro, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral was held May 2, 2008, at Loflin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Reid and the Rev. Joe Brown, the George Stanley and the Rev. Martin Patterson officiating. Burial was Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Grace Baptist Church and also attended Good Samaritan Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Russell Brower of the home; daughters, Angela Carol Freeman of Ramseur, Bonnie King and Tammy Hicks, both of Asheboro; father, Leonard B. Brower of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Clyde Foxx

SILER CITY - Clyde Foxx, 58, of 340 Alma & Roland Road, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral was held May 3, 2008, at Pine Hill United Church of Christ with the Rev. Timothy Blackwell officiating. Burial was in Amos Grove Cemetery in Liberty.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Foxx; sons, Clyde Foxx Jr., Tony W. Foxx and David R. Foxx, all of Siler City; brothers, Norman Graves of Burlington, Charles Foxx of Greensboro, James Foxx of Liberty and Larry Foxx of Greensboro; sisters, Dorthy Baynes of Burlington and Barbara Parks of Simpsonville, S.C.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Viola Fox

DENTON - Viola Fox, 77, of 3191 Lark Drive, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held May 2, 2008, at C.C. Hodges Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Elane Walden officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and a health care giver.

Surviving are her son, Thomas Price of the home; daughters, Mary S. Glover of Staley and Sharon Taylor of Seagrove; sisters, Margie French and Francis Marsh, both of Siler City; brothers, Larry Williams of Siler City; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Nettie S. Gaddis

ASHEBORO - Nettie Shaw Gaddis, 100, of 1302 Old Cox Road, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held May 1, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Roberson officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Henry F. Garner

COLERIDGE - Henry Franklin Garner, 77, of 7946 N.C. Hwy. 42 South, Ramseur, died May 1, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral was held May 5, 2008, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Sears and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Atkins Garner of the home; son, Reggie Garner of Ramseur; daughter, Tara Goins of Ramseur; brother, Charlie Garner of Cherokee; sisters, Clarice McCuiston of Ramseur, Dorothy White and Faye Hunt, both of Asheboro, and Judy Cox of Randleman; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Shirley T. Greene

ASHEBORO - Doris Shirlene Trotter Greene, 72, of 349 Independence Drive, Asheboro, died at her home.

The funeral was held May 6, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of Charlotte United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Anthony Greene of Asheboro; brothers, James Robert Trotter of Asheboro and Harold Wade Trotter of Randleman; one grandchild.

Melvin L. Hunt

ASHEBORO - Melvin Lonnie Hunt, 76, of Ben Lambeth Road, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held May 1, 2008, at New Union United Methodist Church in Asheboro, with the Rev. Karen Gobel and The Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a native of Asheboro, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, self-employed in masonry and construction and taught the first Bricklaying class at Farmer High School.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Hussey Hunt; sisters, Gladys H. Davis, Hazel H. Harvell and Ola H. Spencer all of Asheboro.

Memorials may be made to the New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1293 Union Church Road, Asheboro, N.C. 27205.

Patricia C. Iseman

LIBERTY - Patricia Christine Iseman, 82, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Healthcare Center of Alamance in Graham.

The funeral was held in Millis, Mass.

She was a native of Cambridge, Mass., the widow of H. Frank Iseman, a graduate of Boston University and retired as head librarian in Millis, Mass.

Surviving are her son, William H. Iseman of Millis, Mass.; daughters, Joan D. Leslie of Liberty and Maryanne T. Hodgkins of Fall River, Mass.; one grandchild.

Clyde L. Kivett

ASHEBORO - Clyde Lacy Kivett, 70, of 997 Foxfire Road, Lot #3, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held May 2, 2008, at Patterson Grove Christian Church, with the Rev. Steve House and the Rev. Billy Pearson officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Nancy Kivett, retired from the City of Lexington Water Treatment Plant and attended Patterson Grove Christian Church.

Surviving are sons, Robert Kivett of Lexington and Jeff Kivett of Wytheville, Va.; daughters, Robin Kivett Work of King; stepson, Donald Wyatt of Lexington; brother, Donald Kivett of Eden; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren.

Joyce W. Lineberry

RANDLEMAN - Joyce W. Lineberry of 2113 Henley Country Road, Randleman, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home.

A memorial service was held May 1, 2008, at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Alamance County, retired from Security Forces at the Sara Lee Corp. in Asheboro, formerly a member of the choir at Central Falls Baptist Church and sang in a trio and quartet.

Surviving are daughters, Jan McPherson (Byrd) of Randleman; brothers, Douglas Walton of Randleman and Gene Walton of Brandon, England; one grandchild.

Jimmy H. McInnis

RANDLEMAN - Jimmy Harold McInnis, 79, of 731 W. Kivett St., Apt. 26 A, Asheboro, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

The funeral was held May 1, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Randleman, with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.

He was a native of Moore County, the widower of Barbara McInnis, a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 45 and the Lions Club of Randleman, owner of Jim's Barber Shop and Riverside Motors and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Garren of Asheboro; one grandchild.

Billy M. Parsons

RANDLEMAN - Billy M. Parsons, 69, of 8815 U.S. 220 North, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Beacon Place in Greensboro.

The funeral was held May 1, 2008, at St. Peter United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Liston Sellers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired waiter.

Surviving are his son, Billy Snuggs of Fayetteville; sister, Carolyn Clark of Randleman; brothers, Aaron Parsons of Randleman and Allen Parsons of Greensboro; two grandchildren.

Patsy West Powers

ASHEBORO - Patsy West Powers, 69, of 2358 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held May 5, 2008, at Back Creek Friends Meeting in Asheboro, with the Rev. Jon Reece officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Graham, a retired teacher's assistant from the Asheboro City School system and was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting.

Surviving are her husband, Charles "Buddy" Powers; daughter, Cathy Thompson of Asheboro; sons, Doug Powers of Asheboro, Steve Powers of Asheboro and Todd Powers of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Nancy West Rossiter of Asheboro; five grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Mike Shaw

ASHEBORO - Roger Michael Shaw, 61, of 2435 Pisgah Church Road, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home.

The funeral was held May 3, 2008, at Pisgah United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Dowling officiating. Burial was in Pisgah UMC Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from AC Corp., was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Surviving are daughter, Ashley Shaw of the home; sister, Ruth Anne Shaw of Asheboro; brother, Harvey Shaw of Asheboro.

Bill Underwood

ASHEBORO - William "Bill" Underwood, 80, of 623 Corwith St., died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation.

The funeral was held May 3, 2008, at Asheboro Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Ken Thames and the Rev. Pat Thames officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a self-employed masonry contractor, taught brick laying at Asheboro High School, a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting and served as a Guardian ad Litem.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Walker Underwood; daughters, Vikki U. Parris and June U. Bissette; sons, Gil Underwood and Jeff Underwood; four grandchildren.

Bill Westfield

ASHEBORO - William John "Bill" Westfield, 81, of 742 Lee St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

A memorial service was held May 2, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Connie Weaver and the Rev. Barry L. Queen officiating.

He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from Shell Chemical, a member of Pipefitters Union #322 of South New Jersey, a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite and of the Golden K Club of Asheboro and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro.

Surviving are his wife, Marie C. Moore Westfield; daughters, Faith Rowe of Asheboro and Bert Garris of Asheboro; son, William J. Westfield Jr. of Asheboro; sister, Katherine Moran of Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

STALEY - Graham Jackson Williams, 56, of 145 E. Franklinville St., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held May 3, 2008, at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Goldston with the Rev. Gyles Saunders officiating.

He was a native of Harnett County and attended Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Lynda B. Williams of the home; daughters, Carrie Pritchard of Bennett and Tammy Blackstock of Greensboro; stepdaughter, Michelle Williams of Danville, Va.; stepsons, Keith Williams and Paul Williams, both of Bristol, Tenn., and Theodore Williams of Charlotte; sister, Shelby Dean of Bear Creek; brother, Billy Williams of Asheboro; four grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren.
