RANDLEMAN – William Glen Bame, 48, of 1333 Commonwealth Road, Randleman, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.
The funeral was held March 21, 2008, at Old Union United Methodist Church in Sophia, with the Rev. J. Keith Auman and the Rev. Donnie Durham officiating. Burial was in the Old Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Old Union United Methodist Church, formerly employed with Trogdon Automotive, a 1978 graduate of Asheboro High School and 1979 graduate of RCC Auto Mechanics.
Surviving are his parents, Theodore “Ted” William and Anne Lee Bame; sister, Edna Lee Bame.

ASHEBORO – Bonnie Marie Brault of 300 Wesley Court, Asheboro, died March 16, 2008.
The funeral was held March 19, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with the Rev. James N. Hall officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She was the widow of John Brault.
Surviving are her daughters, Kimberly “Von” Romines of Tennessee, Brenda Hall of Stokes County and Rosezan Anderson of Rockledge, Fla.; son, John Brault of New Bern; brother, Danny Teague of Asheboro; sister, Thelma Cole of Asheboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Claudine C. Bunch, 79, of Asheboro, died March 18, 2008.
The funeral was held March 21, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro, with Pastor Mark Key and the Rev. Barry Queen officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
She was a native of Randolph County, a 1945 graduate of Asheboro High School, a 1949 graduate of the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina, taught special education classes at Asheboro City School and adult education classes at Randolph Community College, a member of Central United Methodist Church, former member of Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Randolph Arts Guild, and was very active in many civic and church organizations.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Bunch of Seattle, Wash.; sons, John Bunch, Bobby Bunch and Ed Bunch, all of Asheboro, and Bill Bunch of Chapel Hill; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

ASHEBORO – Reggie Hicks Bunting, 90, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation in asheboro.
A graveside service was held March 22, 2008, at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dewey Cheek officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, a retired insurance agent, a member of Golden Gate Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara Maness, Shelby Byrd and Brenda Williams, all of Asheboro; sons, Paul Bunting and Jerry Bunting, both of Asheboro; brother, Charlie Bunting of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

DENTON – Donald William Cripps, 84, of 6768 Brantley Gordon Road, Denton, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at his home.
A graveside service was held March 24, 2008, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro, with the Rev. Daniel Little officiating and military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Norfolk, Va., the widower of Frances Hansen Cripps, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was retired from Union Carbide.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary Brookshire of the home and Sissy Coyne of Landsdowne, Penn.; son, Joe Cripps of Denton; sister, Betty Harris of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

STALEY – Christine Kivett Edwards, 82, of 714 Shady Grove Church Road, Staley, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at her home.
The funeral was held March 24, 2008, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Richmond, Va., formerly employed with Ramseur Interlock and Eastern Randolph High School, and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Charles L. Edwards of Staley; brothers, Buster Kivett of Staley and Ervin Kivett of Greensboro; sister, Lois Kivett of Staley.

LIBERTY – Rex Sherwin Elledge, 75, of 5002 Ramseur-Julian Road, Liberty, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A memorial service was held March 24, 2008, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Doug Miller and the Rev. Alanda Harris officiating.
He was a native of Wilkes County, retired from Western Electric, previously employed with Centel, a U.S. Air Force veteran, member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church and was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Teague Elledge of the home; son Greg Elledge of Franklinville; daughters, Sherry Smith of Liberty, Joy Bohnsack of Pleasant Garden; sisters, Madge Blevins of Greensboro, Frances Mitchell of Greenville, S.C., and Edwina Burkett of Milford, Del.; six grandchildren.

LIBERTY – Malvena Graham, 68, died March 21, 2008.

She was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., a seamstress and loved to design cakes and flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Graham of Liberty; daughters, Dolores Sams of Saint Claire, Mo., Diane John of Hanover, Penn., Lisa Wray of New Oxford, Penn., and Kimberly Boggs of Hanover, Penn.; son, James Thomas of Hanover, Penn.; sister, Patricia Gilday Moore of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; brother, Joseph Gilday of Northfield, N.J.; 13 grandchildren.
James R. Harper, D.D.
LAKE WALES, FLA. – James R. Harper, D.D., 86, of Lake Wales died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Lake Wales Medical Center.
The funeral was held March 18, 2008, at the Johnson Funeral Home. Burial was in Florida National Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, a retired bank teller for the former Atlantic Bank, Lake Wales, an ordained Baptist minister, and also worked as a funeral attendant and driver for Johnson Funeral Home, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2420 and D.A.V. #28.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine G. Harper; son, Allan Harper of Winter Haven; daughters, Brenda Holt and Cathy Johnson, both of Lake Wales; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

DAYTON, OHIO – Samuel J. Hancock, 82, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Randleman, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Miami Valley Hospital.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of the University of Missouri and the University of Pittsburgh, former employed with Westinghouse, Leland Airborn Products, Lear Siegler and Hobart Brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Joeanna Hancock of the home; daughters, Karen Furlong of Vandalia, and Nida Wilson of Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Annie Krog of Slater, Mo., Hilda Von Cannon of Winston-Salem and Nida Hancock of Randleman; three grandchildren.

He was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was employed with CPT Engineering in High Point.

She was a native of Surry County and a homemaker.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired employee and manager of Blue Mist Restaurant and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his brothers, Billy Ray Johnson of Lexington and Junior Johnson of Asheboro; sisters, Louise Johnson, Dorothy Johnson and Ava Hooker, all of Asheboro, and Nina Wallace of Charleston, S.C.

HIGH POINT – Dessie Mae Miller Jones, 75, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Grady H. Jones, a member of TruLite Baptist Church and active at the Roy B. Culler Senior Center.

She was a native of Bayboro, the widow of Bruce Josey, attended New Beginnings Church and was retired from the Guilford County Clerk of Court’s Office.

She was a native of Pinnacle, the widow of Elbert Lane, a former member of the VFW Auxiliary and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pinnacle and was formerly employed with Amos-Smith Hosiery in Pilot Mountain.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy Mashburn of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Phyllis Younts of Asheboro; son, Phillip Lane of Pinnacle; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County and was formerly employed with Stuart Furniture in Asheboro.

She was a native of Asheboro, a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, retired from the Asheboro City Schools where she taught at Asheboro High School, and a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Morgan; son, Ben C. Morgan of Asheboro; daughter, Chris Armitage of Wilmington; mother, Frances Voncannon Bullins of Asheboro; brother, Jerry Bullins of Asheboro; one grandchild.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of James Eugene Petty, a graduate of Asheboro High School and active in woodcarving groups at RCC and Randleman Library.

She was a native of Queens County, N.Y., the widow of Arthur Zink, a homemaker and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
