ASHEBORO - Lydia Biles Auman, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at her home.
The funeral was held March 2, 2008, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Nelson officiating. Burial was in Ether U.M.C. cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Dennis W. Auman, a retired sewer and attended Oakwood Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons, Ronald R. Auman of Asheboro and Darrell D. Auman of Randleman; daughters, Faye Fisher and Helen Tarlton, both of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

SOPHIA - Maxine Bray Barbee, 63, of 3068 Beeson Farm Road, Sophia, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Commonwealth Hosiery Mill and a 1962 graduate of Franklinville High School.
Surviving are her husband, Larry David Barbee of the home; sons, Darren Barbee and David Barbee, both of Sophia; brothers, Larry Bray of Randleman, the Rev. Charles Wright of Spartanburg, S.C., Lynn Wright of Franklinville; two grandchildren.

LIBERTY - Charlie James Bare Jr., 76, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Beacon Place Hospital, Greensboro.

He was a native of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, a graduate of Liberty High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War, retired from Greensboro News & Record and a greeter at Wal-Mart in Siler City.

She was a native of Robeson County, the widow of John Lee Burton, and was formerly employed with Guilford Mills.

She was a native of Jackson Springs, a homemaker and a member of Bethany Untied Methodist Church.

He was a retired sales representative of American Home Products, a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a member of the Gideons International, Past Master of Biscoe Masonic Lodge # 437, Scottish Rite Mason, Oasis Shriner and served on the Board of Directors of Westmoore Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a native of Randolph County, a 1940 graduate of Ramseur High School, retired from Western & Southern Life Insurance Co. and was a U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran, a member of First Christian Church and has served on the Ramseur Town Board and as the town's 12th mayor.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Paige Cox of the home; sons, Doug Cox and Steven Cox, both of Greensboro; daughter, Patricia Scarborough of Greensboro; brother, Daryl Cox of Ramseur; sister, Edna Earl Hall of Marion; three grandchildren.

Betty B. Wallace
ASHEBORO - Betty Bray Wallace, 72, of 490 Foxworth Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at her residence.
The funeral was held Feb. 28, 2008, at Cedar Falls United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Terry Lindquist and the Rev. Jacqueline Tookey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Acme-McCrary Corp., and a member of Cedar Falls United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Jeff Wallace of Asheboro; sisters, Peggy Bray of Asheboro; one grandchild.

Alfred G. Wood
SEAGROVE - Alfred George Wood, 82, of 5817 Ridge Road, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at his home.
A graveside service was held Feb. 29, 2008, at the Hector Union Cemetery, Burdett, N.Y.
He was a native of Sayre, Pa., a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Guam, retired from Emerson Power Transmission, and attended Whynot Wesleyan Church, Seagrove.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Shirley VanEtten Wood; daughters, Sandra Woodard, Merry Burnham and Sally Saunders, all of Seagrove, Jacqueline Lovell of Montour Falls, N.Y.; sons, Lewis Lent of Bridgewater, Mass., George Wood of Newfield, N.Y., Mark Wood of Burdett, N.Y.; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
