ASHEBORO – Mary Virginia Davis Auman, 90, of 5968 Old Troy Road, Asheboro, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held March 6, 2008, at New Hope United Methodist Church of Seagrove with the Rev. Kelly Ottinger, the Rev. Alanda Harris and the Rev. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Asheboro.
She was a native of Winston-Salem, the widow of Edward Auman, a homemaker and retired from Lucks Inc. of Seagrove.
Surviving are her daughters, LaVerne A. Williams of Asheboro and Louise A. Hancock of Seagrove; sons, Harold Auman, Eugene Auman and Danny Auman, all of Asheboro; sisters, Bertie E. Cole and Dorthine "Dot" Sikes, both of Asheboro, Evona D. Coble of Franklinville and Sue D. Hackett of Conway, S.C.; brother, R.J. Davis of Climax; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson.

RANDLEMAN – Hester Curtis Burr, 85, formerly of 516 N. Main St., Randleman, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro.
The funeral was held March 5, 2008, at Sophia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
She was a native of Chesterfield, S.C., the widow of B.P. Burr, a member of Sophia Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Schnierson's of Randleman and Mr. Jeans.
Surviving are her daughters, Margie Burr Wright of Asheboro and Ruth Burr Green of Randleman; half-sisters, Ann McDonald and Ruth Parker, both of Chesterfield, S.C.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Timothy Clark Butterfield, 37, died Jan. 1, 2008, in New York, N.Y.

SEAGROVE – Bertha Mozelle Williamson Chrisco, 80, of 2655 Brower Mill Road, Seagrove, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held March 8, 2008, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Seagrove, with the Rev. Darrell Cartrette officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Moore County and was retired from Luck's Inc.

ASHEBORO – Ernest Leroy "E.L." Clark Jr., 78, of 615 Highland St., Asheboro, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at Randolph Hospitial in Asheboro.
The funeral was held March 9, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Asheboro, a 1948 graduate of Asheboro High School, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired brick mason and a member of Pleasant Union Community Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ora McDowell Clark of the home; daughter, Gale Clark Hasty of Randleman.

She was a native of Sanford and attended Asheboro First Wesleyan Church and was formerly employed with Randolph Hospital in the admissions office.
Surviving are her son, Maynard B. Reid of Asheboro; husband, Edwin E. "Pat" Burns of the home; sister, Genivive Buchanon Powell of Sanford.

ASHEBORO – Mildred Denson, 94, of 232 Spring Garden St., Asheboro, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro.
The funeral was held March 11, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial was in Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Siler City.
She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Walter T. Denson, a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro and was retired from Burlington Industries.
Surviving are her cousins, Gladys Fesmire of Siler City and Bill and Faye Finison of Gastonia.

Andrew T. Dobbs
ASHEBORO – Andrew Thomas Dobbs, 72, of Asheboro, died Friday, March 7, 2008, at High Point Regional Hospital.
No services were held.
He was a native of New York, the widower of Mary Helen Dobbs and a retired machinist.
Surviving are his two stepsons and three grandchildren.
Rachel L. Fitzpatrick
ASHEBORO – Rachel Lewis Fitzpatrick, 87, formerly of 117 S. Main St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 7, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro, with the Rev. Connie Weaver officiating.
She was a native of Middlesex, the widow of Dr. Hugh Fitzpatrick, a graduate of Meredith College, did graduate work at Duke and Wake Forest University, she did cancer research at the Medical College of Virginia and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her sons, Hugh E. Fitzpatrick of Raleigh and Stuart L. Fitzpatrick of Greensboro; daughters, Julia Eliades of Richmond, Va., and Anne Chadwick of Greenville, N.C.; seven grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Georgie Mae Burrow Frye, 74, of 2243 Old Liberty Road, Randleman, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
A private burial was held at Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Bobby Frye, and formerly employed with Big Dipper in Asheboro and Ramseur Interlock.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandy Frye of Thomasville and Carolyn Moffitt of Ramseur; sons, David Haithcock of Franklinville and Dean Frye of Liberty; sister, Margaret Vickory of Ramseur; brothers, Buddy Burrow of Central Falls and Jimmy Burrow of Randleman; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Maudie S. Goins
ARCHDALE – Maudie Gay Spencer Goins, 79, of Archdale, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at GrayBrier Nursing Home.
A memorial service was held March 11, 2008, at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in Archdale, with the Pastor Kenneth Evans officiating.
She was a native of Asheboro, a resident of High Point, the widow of Douglas Goins and a member of English Road Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Jill Herring of Trinity and Vicki Loflin of High Point; son, Todd Goins of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Ruby Foster and Pauline Rich, both of Asheboro; brother, Bobby Spencer of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

LIBERTY – Ras Williard Hester, 83, of Liberty, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at his home.
A mass of Christian burial was held March 8, 2008, at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty, with the Father Christopher Davis officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
He was a native of Alamance County, a member of St. Jospeph's Catholic Church in Asheboro, a veteran of World War II, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and an employee of Lodging by Liberty and Carolina Steel.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Boileau Hester of the home; daughters, Kitty Ellison of Burlington and Barbara Hogan of South Carolina; sons, Ronald Hester of Graham, John Hester of Julian, Jim Hester of Elizabeth City and Mark Hester of Liberty; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

RAMSEUR – Dollie C. Martin, 103, formerly of Greensboro, died March 6, 2008, at Universal Health Care.

She was a native of Floyd County, Va., a member of Florida Street Baptist Church and was a real estate broker.
Surviving are her daughter, Verlla Eason of Ramseur; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

SOPHIA – Alma Pyrtle McClure, 49, of Sophia, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Hospice House at High Point.

She was a native of Guilford County, formerly employed with Craftwood Furniture and was of the Baptist faith.

RANDLEMAN – Raymond George Meyers Jr., 83, of 367 Queens Way, Randleman, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
He was a native of East Orange, N.J., the widower of Frances Kenlein Meyers and Wilma Booth, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in sheboro, a retired captain with the East Orange Fire Department, a volunteer fire fighter with the Level Cross Fire Department and a member of the VFW in Asheboro.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy Blanchard of Long Valley, N.J.; sons, Raymond Meyers III of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Thomas Meyers of Bridgton, N.J., and William Meyers of Randleman; sister, Dorothy Hulbert of Tequesta, Fla.; brother, William Meyers of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; stepsons, Edward Booth of Randleman and Ricky Booth of New Jersey; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN – Debra Sue Osborne, 48, of 6303 Georgia Drive, Randleman, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at her home.

She was a native of Ann Arbor, Mich., and a long-time resident of the Greensboro area.

She was a native of Randleman, former owner and operator of Vera's Flower Shop in Asheboro and the great-granddaughter of John Banner Freeman, namesake of the Town of Randleman.
Surviving are her nephews, Robert Ferree II of Creston and Randleman "Randy" Ferree of Asheboro; neice, Beth Castelloe of Chesapeake, Va.

She was a native of Pittsburgn, Pa., retired from Kroger Foods, a senior bowler and past president of the Ladies Guild at her church.
Surviving are her husband, Richard M. Sporic; daughters, Christine Brandt of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Candace Sporic of Maricopa, Ariz.; sons, William Kaiser of Lebanon, Penn., and Charles Sporic of Mentor, Ohio; brother, Thomas Foley of Pittsburgh, Penn.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Etta Lee Craven Trexler, 88, of 132 Spring Garden St., died Monday, March 3, 2008,at Randolph Hospital.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Harold Lee Trexler, a member of First United Methodist Church, formerly employed with Auto Supply and Piedmont Natural Gas and retired from the Randolph County Tax Department.

ASHEBORO – Kenneth Ray Trogdon, 83, of 5977 High Pine Church Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.
The funeral was held March 5, 2008, at High Pine Wesleyan Church in Asheboro, with the Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp and the Rev. Geroge Simmons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired from Energizer Battery Plant #1, a member of High Pine Wesleyan Church and a member of American Legion Post #45.
Surviving are his wife, Ola Lanier Trogdon of the home; daughter, Ruth Crotts of Asheboro; sons, Boyd Trogdon, Glenn Trogdon and Bruce Trogdon, all of Asheboro; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE – John W. Tysinger, 58, of Charlotte, died March 5, 2008.
The funeral was held at McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte.
He was a native of Randolph County and employed by Wilora Lake Health Care Center as an LPN.
Surviving are his partner, Walter J. Sullivan of Charlotte; brother, Randy L. Tysinger of Sophia; sisters, Mary Jane Brown of Sophia; Linda Bradford of Asheboro and Shirley (Pete) Rozier of Halifax; 11 nieces and nephews.

ASHEBORO – Mickey Lee Walker, 46, of Asheboro, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

He was a native of Randolph County, attended Southwestern Randolph High School, was a member of the FFA, owned and operated Walker Septic Service and attended New Beginnings Church.
Surviving are his parents, Larry and Patricia Walker of Asheboro; sisters, Christina Garrison of Franklinville, Julie Overton of Asheboro and Beth Jarrell of Randleman; brothers, Johnny Walker of Asheboro and Christopher Cromer of Ulah; former wife and friend, Jeanne Penkava.

ASHEBORO – Van Duke Weeks, 83, of 935 Uwharrie St., Asheboro, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
The funeral was held March 8, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro, where he was a member, with the Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro with Masonic Rites.
He was a native of Johnston County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, formerly employed as a supervisor for Dick Weeks Construction Co., a retired electrical inspector in Brunswick County, a member of the Masonic Lodge #699 and was a member of the Scottish Rite and Oasis Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Earle Whitehurst Weeks; son, Steve Weeks of Lexington; daughter, Sue Flynt of Winston-Salem; sisters, Susie B. Grasso of Newport Beach, Calif., and Janie L. Garrett of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
