AHS seniors named Eagle Scouts

ASHEBORO — Four Asheboro High School seniors received the rank of Eagle Scout on April 15.

John H. “Hamp” Park, son of John and Lisa Park; Ian M. Dunn, son of Scott and Rebecca Dunn; Andrew S. Howard Jr., son of Scott and Joanie Howard; and Patrick O. Sullivan, son of Kurt and Patty Sullivan, were honored.

All four are from Troop 527, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church and led by William “R” Robinson. The scouts totaled more than 500 hours on their projects.

Park constructed a walking trail, picnic table and bench at Cross Road Retirement; Dunn built a soccer referee shelter at the YMCA; Howard built a shelving system for the Asheboro High School Band; and Sullivan constructed audience benches for the outside theater at Mt. Shepherd Church Camp.

Troop 527 has been in existence more than 75 years. Troop 527 has now awarded 173 scouts the rank of Eagle Scout since the troop’s beginning.
