A 29-year-old Randolph County man has been charged with 20 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a child after the search of an RV yielded images of child pornography, according to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office.
On Aug. 23, detectives with the sheriff's office searched 814 McDowell Country Road, Lot 14, during the investigation of the illegal trade of child pornography over the Internet. Detectives found a laptop computer and various electronic media items that contained child pornography.
Michael Darrell Perdue was arrested on Jan. 4 in Giles County, Va., and served with warrants for his arrest two days later. His bond was set at $500,000 secured.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is still actively investigating the case. The detectives investigating Internet Crimes against Children are members of the Piedmont ICAC Task Force, a partner with the North Carolina ICAC Task Force.
