RANDLEMAN – Tommy W. Atkins, 62, of 3992 Camp Fire Road, Randleman, died Saturday, June 14, 2008.
A memorial service was held June 18, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Randleman with Jeff Buckles officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, a member of Bible Holiness Church and worked for Deep River Dye Fabricators.
Surviving are his sons, Billy Atkins and Thomas Allen Atkins, both of Randleman, and Danny Atkins of Asheboro; daughters, Debbie Martin of Coleridge and Holly Hudson of Randleman; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

SELMA – Desiree C. Brown, 25, of 204 S. Massey St., died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Duke Medical Center.
The funeral was held June 18, 2008, at Oliver’s Chapel in Staley. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her parents, Robin Williams of Four Oaks and William Brooks of Asheboro; son, Landon Isaiah Davis of the home; sister, Allison C. Brown of the home; brother, Allan Bostic of Asheboro.

GARNER – Myrtle Kinney Smith Burrow, 86, of 1101 Hartwell St., formerly of Draper Street, Asheboro, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at The Laurels of Forest Glen in Garner.
The funeral was held June 24, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with Charles Reeder officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randleman, the widow of Cletus R. “Doc” Burrow and retired from Jockey International.
Surviving are her son, John W. Smith of Raleigh; brothers, Robert Kinney of Neese, S.C., and Cecil Kinney of Randleman; one grandchild; one great-grandchild.

ASHEBORO – Walter Vance Callicutt died Friday, June 20, 2008.
The funeral was held June 22, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Tom Benedict officiating. Burial was in Bethel Friends Meeting Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Asheboro, attended Asheboro City Schools, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was self-employed.
Surviving are his wife, Lessie Suits Callicutt; daughter, Brenda Suits Portis of Thomasville; sister, Helen Beane of Asheboro; brother, Donald “Pap” Callicutt of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Wingate, the widow of James E. Reid and Samuel Dodson, retired from Cessco in Charlotte and was a member of United Methodist Church.

ASHEBORO – Deborah “Debbie” Sineath Dornbush, 56, of 918 Greystone Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at her home.

She was a native of Richmond, Va., a 1970 graduate of Asheboro High School, attended UNC-Greensboro and graduated from N.C. State University, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheboro and was employed with The Courier-Tribune.

ASHEBORO – Eric Jeffrey Groves, 75, formerly of London, England, died Monday, June 9, 2008, in Mill Spring, N.C.

He was a native of London, England, a veteran of the Royal Air Force, formerly employed with General Electric in Asheboro and was a member of The All Souls Anglican Church.

He was a native of Shelby, retired from Ramtex of Ramseur, was currently employed with Dillard’s of Asheboro and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
