Barbara Bulla

ASHEBORO – Barbara Lee Hemric Bulla, 66, of 6330 King Mountain Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

A graveside service was held June 11, 2008, at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point with Chaplain Dwight Ayers officiating.

She was a native of High Point, an artist and an antique dealer.

Surviving are her husband, Cecil O. Bulla Jr.; daughter, Suzanne Leigh Bulla Cowan of Reidsville; son, Aaron A. Bulla of Greensboro; two grandchildren.

Eva M. Burgess

RAMSEUR – Eva Mae Scott Burgess, 81, of 969 Brooklyn Ave., Ext., Ramseur, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.

The funeral was held June 5, 2008, at Ramseur Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Kevin Stumbo and the Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Fred Burgess, retired from Acme McCrary Corp. and was a member of Ramseur Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are her son, Mike Burgess of Siler City; daughter, Rita Burgess Kauder of Navarre, Fla.; brother, Paul Scott of Badin Lake; sister, Margaret Scott Williams of Garland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Joyce W. Fountain

SOPHIA – Joyce Wall Fountain, 60, resident of 3847 Knollview Drive, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Hospice Home of High Point.

The funeral was held June 5, 2008, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with the Rev. Frank Gribble officiating. Burial was in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, employed with Brayton Designs and was a member of Gospel Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Jimmy Fountain of the home; sons, Bobby Fountain of Badin Lake and Jeff Fountain of Sophia; sister, Diane Hall of Asheboro; brothers, Jerry Hudspeth of Trinity and Robbie Hudspeth of Kernersville; one grandchild.

Caroleen M. Glass

ASHEBORO – Caroleen Miller Glass, 84, of 1513 Briarcliff Drive, Asheboro, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral was held June 7, 2008, at Browers Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael W. Adams Sr officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of John Edward Glass,a member of Brower’s Chapel United Methodist Church, and was retired from Walker Shoe Company.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia A. Glass of Raleigh; son, John E. Glass Jr. of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

Robert L. Goldston

ASHEBORO – Robert Lee Goldston, 80, of 421 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held June 8, 2008, at Look to Jesus Christian Center with the Rev. Dexter Trogdon officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Surviving are his daughters, LaRue G. Randolph of Laurinburg and Wilhemia G. Jordan of Asheboro; son, Kenneth Joel Goldston of Ft. Hood, Texas; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Winnie B. Hammer

ASHEBORO – Winnie Brown Hammer, 86, of 3306 Wayne Road, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held June 5, 2008, at Union Grove Christian Church, with the Rev. Garry Reeder officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Christian Church.

Surviving are her sons, James L. Hammer of Archdale, Grover L. Hammer and J. Edward Hammer, both of Asheboro; daughter, Betty H. Byrd of Asheboro; brothers, Garrett Brown of Copper City, Kan., and J. Clinton Brown of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Charles S. Hardister

DENTON – Charles Stanley Hardister, 82, of Burney Mill Road, Troy, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

The funeral was held June 7, 2008, at Eleazer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Carter and the Rev. Jeff Lamb officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Eleazer United Methodist Church and the retired owner and operator of Hardister & Son Builders.

Surviving are his wife, Imogene Gallimore Hardister of the home; daughters, Lynn Hardister Lamb of Eleazer, Gail Harister Walker of Denton; son, Randy C. Hardister of Denton; sisters, Maxine Richardson of Troy, Kathryn Russell of Blaine and Madalene Simmons of Eleazer.

C. Robert Lawson

RAMSEUR – Charles Robert Lawson, 80, of 4137 Perryman Road, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at his home.

A memorial service was held June 9, 2008, at Mountain of Faith Christian Church, with the Rev. John Cullop officiating.

He was a native of Richmond County, N.Y., a former Mason, a retired insurance broker, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 10348.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy Wheeler Larson of the home; sons, Charles Robert Larson Jr. of Orchard Park, N.Y., Richard W. Larson of Silver Creek, N.Y., and Thomas John Larson of Lockport, N.Y.; sister, Joan Caddell of Center Valley, Pa.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Jacqueline H. Ledbetter

RANDLEMAN – Jacqueline Heath Ledbetter, 74, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at GrayBrier.

A graveside service was held June 6, 2008, at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Brent Tysinger officiating.

She was a native of Randleman, a member of Mt. Pleasant Community Church where she served as church secretary and treasurer for 18 years.

Surviving are her husband, Robert “Bobby” Ledbetter; sons, Reed Ledbetter and Van. H. Ledbetter, both of Randleman; brothers, Eugene Heath of Randleman and Charles Heath of Oakland, Calif.; three grandchildren.

Ernestine Little

RAMSEUR – Ernestine “Judy” Little, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

The funeral was held June 10, 2008, at McCrary Chapel United Methodist Church in Ramseur. Burial was in Oakland-McCrary Cemetery.

Surviving are her son, James C. Brown of Ramseur; daughters, Jessie Alexander of Philadelphia, Pa., and Catherina Spinks of Coleridge; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Macfayden

ASHEBORO – Robert Lee “Bob” Macfayden, 59, of 342 Worth St., died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at his home.

A graveside service was held June 7, 2008, at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Chad Marley officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Asheboro High School, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Randolph County Emergency Services.

Surviving are his wife, Denise Redding Allison Macfayden; sons, Robert Scott Macfayden of Troy, David Robert Macfayden of Franklinville, Lee Anthony Macfayden of Asheboro and Robert Glenn “Robbie” Macfayden of Franklinville; two grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

Ruth L. Marsh

ASHEBORO – Ruth Roland Luther Marsh, 83, of 4832 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at her home.

The funeral was held June 6, 2008, at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Burial was in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Jackson County, the widow of Romie C. Marsh, a retired employee of Claude Gable Furniture Co. and a former telephone operator.

Surviving are her daughter, Cylvia Whiteside of Greensboro; sisters, Mary Byerly of Asheboro and Ruby Hill of Thomasville; brothers, George Luther of Sophia and Norman Luther of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Goulda S. Pugh

FRANKLINVILLE – Goulda Strider Pugh, 73, of Franklinville, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held June 10, 2008, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church in Franklinville, with the Rev. Doug Miller and the Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Danville, Va., a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Worth B. Pugh; son, Denny Pugh of Greensboro; daughter, Diana Profitt of Boone.

Betty T. Sheets

ASHEBORO – Betty Trollinger Sheets, 79, of 330 W. Presnell St., #38, died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

A memorial service was held June 9, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro, with Dr. Mark Key and the Rev. Barry Queen officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph Henry “Bill” Sheets; son, Thomas Stephen Sheets of Linville, N.C.; daughter, Sue Sheets of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Paul Trollinger of Star and Jim Trollinger of Charlotte; sister, Sara Trollinger of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren.

Jesse W. Spivey

SEAGROVE – Jesse Wallace Spivey, 88, of 1060 Willie Road, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral was held June 4, 2008, at Guiding Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Allen officiating. Burial was in Dover Baptist Church Cemetery in Seagrove.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Statesville, and a retired machine operator.

Surviving are his wife, Lottie Elizabeth Lapish Spivey of the home; daughter, Rebecca Hogan of Seagrove; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Artie B. Teeter

BENNETT – Artie Brady Teeter, 76, of 6191 Pleasant Grove Church Road, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Universal Healthcare of Ramseur.

The funeral was held June 8, 2008, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Bennett, where she attended, with the Rev. Chuck Rowland and the Rev. Chris Wood officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Robert Teeter, formerly owned and operated Artistic Beauty Salon in Asheboro for 52 years and was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting.

Surviving are her son, Don Spoon of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Berta Mae McDaniel of Bennett and Bessie Brady of Bennett; brothers, Jerry Brady of Bennett and Joe Mack Brady of Coleridge; one grandchild; several stepchildren.

Anna L. Trogdon

RANDLEMAN – Anna Lewis Trogdon, 85, of Randleman, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

A graveside service was held June 2, 2008, at New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Randleman, formerly employed with Dr. Deaton and Burlington Industries, Greensboro and was retired from First Baptist Church in Randleman as a secretary.

Virginia R. Trotter

CEDAR FALLS – Virginia Mae Rich Trotter, 68, of 1111 Glenn Rich Lane, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held June 6, 2008, at Cedar Falls Baptist Church, with the Rev. Russell Chriscoe officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Vester Trotter Jr. of the home; son, Jonathan Trotter of Randleman; daughter, Wanda T. George of Trinity; sisters, Carol Kivett and Glenalee Allred, both of Asheboro, Peggy Garrison of Mississippi, Patsy Breedlove and Betty Jo Neal of Virginia; brother, Glenn Rich Jr. of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
