ASHEBORO – Robert Jackson Branson, 70, of 4285 U.S. Hwy. 64 West, Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held Jan. 29, 2008, at West Bend United Methodist Church in Asheboro, with the Rev. David Cox and Dr. Steve Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member of West Bend United Methodist Church, formerly employed with Certified Concrete in Asheboro and was retired from Voncannon Trucking.

Surviving are his wife, Daffy Smith Branson of the home; son Robert "Robbie" Branson of Asheboro; daughters, Kristie Scherer of Denton, Sandi Branson of Asheboro; sisters, Vonie Thomas of Sandford and Carolyn Butts of Lillington; brothers, Bill Branson of Siler City and Cecil Branson of Reidsville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Ruthanne L. Brueilly

ASHEBORO – Ruthanne Lane Brueilly, 79, of 325 Back Creek Church Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at her home.

The funeral was held Jan. 24, 2008, at Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, Pa., with Pastor James Hill officiating. Burial was in Gray Cemetery in Covington, Pa.

She was a native of Tioga County, Pa., a graduate of Philadelphia School of the Bible and Mansfield University in the field of education with a master's degree in special education and elementary education and taught for the Troy School District.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Brueilly; sons, Steve Brueilly of Asheboro and David Brueilly; daughters, Sharon Stobey, Diane Brueilly and Phyllis Festa; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Nathan J. Campbell

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Nathan Junior Campbell, of Rock Hill, S.C., formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.

The funeral was held Jan. 24, 2008, at Parkers Funeral Home in Rock Hill, S.C.

Surviving are his mother, Lillie Howard Campbell of Rock Hill, S.C.; daughters, Machelle Roseboro and Annette Jackson, both of Rock Hill, S.C., Linda Ann Mabry of Asheboro; sons, Nathan Campbell Jr. and James Bernard Campbell, both of Rock Hill, S.C., Nathan Brooks Green of Asheboro; sisters, Sa Brina Campbell, Jo Ann Moore and Melissa Frazier, all of Rock Hill, S.C.; brother, Willie Lewis Campbell of Asheboro.

Ruby C. Coley

FRANKLINVILLE – Ruby Curtis Coley, 92, of 3569 Old Liberty Road, Franklinville, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.

The funeral was held Jan. 23, 2008, at Cool Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Harmon and the Rev. Alanda Harris officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Bost Neck Wear and was a charter member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Glenn Coley of Climax; daughters, Diane Hill of Asheboro and Linda Clay of Franklinville; brother, Ray Curtis of Liberty; sister, Bertha Wood of Asheboro; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Edith Jewell Bottoms Culler, 76, of 309 Wesley Court, Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

A graveside service was held Jan. 24, 2008, at Country Holiness Cemetery in Randleman, with the Rev. Randy Bottoms officiating.

She was a native of Surry County and retired from furniture manufacturing.

Surviving are her son, Jimmy Eugene Culler of Climax; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Jacqueline "Jackie" Simmons Dillon, 67, of 2356 Woodridge Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held Jan. 28, 2008, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel, with Pastor J.C. Miles officiating. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park in Bassett, Va.

She was a native of Roanoke, Va., and a member of the Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church of Asheboro.

Surviving are her daughters, Rosetta Purdy of Patrick County, Va., and Dorothy D. Ragan of Fieldale, Va.; son, Billy Gene Dillon of Roanoke, Va.; sisters, Emma Jean Lucas and Barbara Martin, both of Asheboro, and Pauline Thurman and Patricia Nichols, both of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Kenneth Lee Simmons of Seagrove; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Fogleman Jr.

LIBERTY – Richard Douglas Fogleman Jr., 45, of Liberty, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

Surviving are his mother, Betty D. Fogleman; sister, Eve Cantral of Tallahassee, Fla.; niece, Catherine Cantral.

Kyle D. Frazier

ASHEBORO – Kyle Dean Frazier, 51, of 4782 Osborne Mill Road, Seagrove, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at his home.

A memorial service was held Jan. 23, 2008, at Central Carolina Community Church in Asheboro with the Rev. Edward J. Arroyo, the Rev. Tim Isley and the Rev. Marion Smith officiating.

He was a graduate of Eastern Randolph High School, a member of Cental Carolina Community Church and a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Weaver Frazier; sisters, Linda Frazier Allred of Ramseur and Donna Frazier of Wilmington; brother, Keith L. Frazier of Seagrove.

Ruby Parks Gallimore

ASHEBORO – Ruby Parks Gallimore, 77, of Asheboro, died Jan. 25, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 28, 2008, at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church in Ramseur. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Ramseur, a 1948 graduate of Ramseur High School, a graduate of King's Business College in Greensboro, and a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Harlan Gallimore; sons, H.R. Gallimore of Asheboro; Dan Gallimore of Winston-Salem and Ken Gallimore of Asheboro; sister, Betty Parks Woodard; four grandchildren.

Richard E. Gillson

SEAGROVE – Richard Edward Gillson, 71, of 625 Fork Creek Mill Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Seagrove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert E. Dowling officiating. Burial was in Whynot Cemetery.

He was a native of Dunkirk, N.Y., and was a member of Seagrove United Methodist Church, a former police officer in Fredonia, N.Y., was the former police chief of Seagrove, operator of Olde Pottery Shoppe and Holly Hill Pottery and Candles, the founder of the Seagrove Pottery Festival and the official potter for Lexington Barbecue Festival.

Surviving are daughter, Deborah Gardner of Dunkirk, N.Y.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

LIBERTY – Frances Sills Anderson Harris, 69, of Liberty, formerly of Dunn, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.

A memorial service was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Cromartie Miller & Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ricky Warren officiating.

She was a native of Sampson County.

Surviving are daughter, Rockie Lynn Anderson of New Hill; brother, Milton Sills of Southern Pines.

ASHEBORO – Ernest Michael Harris, 55, of 1198 Thoroughbred Road, Lot 6, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service was held Jan. 23, 2008, at New Hope U.M.C. Cemetery in Denton, with the Rev. Frank Barrett officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County, had worked in sales and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Denton.

Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Sexton Harris of the home; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Harris of Reidsville, Eva Elizabeth Harris and Marti Lynn Bowen, both of Asheboro, and Tabatha Diane Allred of Robbins; sons, Michael Wade Harris and Joshua Alan Harris, both of Asheboro; brothers, Arther Thomas Harris of New Hope, Jerry Don Harris of Asheboro, and Randy Phillip Harris of Sneeds Ferry; sisters, Mary Anne Harris Hughes of Lexington and Glenda Mae Harris Martin of Coleridge; stepdaughter, Edna Faye Bowen of Asheboro; stepsons, Harold Dean Sexton and James Arther Bowen, both of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren.

FRANKLINVILLE – Ricky Lee Hill, 56, of 4103 Nixon Farm Road, Franklinville, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Randolph County and was employed with Caudle Bedding Supplies of Randleman.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Presnell Hill of Franklinville; stepson, Darrell Wayne Irwin of Asheboro; brother, Donald Wayne Hill of Franklinville.

Terry W. Hill

RANDLEMAN – Terry Wayne Hill, 47, of 105 Swaim St., Randleman, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

A memorial service was held Jan. 25, 2008, at Mountain View Independent Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hunt officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and a self-employed plumber.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Hill of Randleman; sister, Darlene Myers of Asheboro; brother, Donald "Duck" Hill of Asheboro.

Clifford Jennings

ASHEBORO – Clifford Jennings, 83, of Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

A graveside service was held Jan. 25, 2008, at Whites Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklinville with the Rev. Jeff Joyce officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Evelyn Yow Jennings, and was retired from J.P. Stevens.

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa Ketchum of Greensboro and Vicki Routh of Randleman; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

ASHEBORO – Joyce Edgeworth Leach, 82, of Randolph Health & Rehabilitation Center, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel in Troy, with the Rev. Billy Roy officiating. Burial was in Little River Baptist Church Cemetery in Troy.

She was a native of Ruby, S.C., the widow of William Patterson Leach, formerly employed with the FBI in Washington, D.C., and studied music and voice in New York.

Surviving is her daughter, Carol G. Royal of Thomasville; son, Charles Goldson of Thomasville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Jessica R. McLeod

ASHEBORO – Jessica Renae McLeod, 20, of 1888 Old Cox Road, Apt. K, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Toni Ruth Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Portland, Ore., and was employed with WilcoHess.

Surviving are her daughter, Jasmine Moody of the home; mother, Priscilla McLeod of the home; sister, Elizabeth McLeod of Asheboro.

Doris G. Patterson

ASHEBORO – Doris Jane Gray Patterson, 77, formerly of Mack Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation.

The funeral was held Jan. 23, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Cecil Patterson, retired from Randolph Hospital and was a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting.

Surviving are her daughters, Jane P. Luther and Charlene P. Humble, both of Asheboro; son, John A. Patterson of Asheboro; sister, Alise P. Everhart of Asheboro; one grandchild; one great-grandchild.

Elma W. Robbins

ASHEBORO – Elma Willis Robbins, 102, of 1440 Winslow Ave., Asheboro, died Monday, January 21, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 23, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jonathan Shook officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Robeson County, was a homemaker, and was formerly employed in the hosiery industry.

Surviving is her husband, Eugene E. Robbins of the home.

Elizabeth "Lib" Sanders

ASHEBORO – Elizabeth "Lib" Sanders, 77, of Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral was held Jan. 29, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Taylor and the Rev. Karen Gobel officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Bainbridge, Ga., a 1950 graduate of Asheboro High School, a member of Grace United Methodist Church and New Union United Methodist Church and was retired from Black & Decker.

Surviving are her brother, Harris Sanders of Asheboro; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill Shaw

SOPHIA – Brentley "Bill" C. Shaw, 83, of Sophia, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Greybrier Nursing Home.

The funeral was held Jan. 23, 2008, at Flint Hill United Church of Christ, with Pastor Jack Clark officiating. Burial was at a later date.

He was a native of Trinity, a U.S Army Air Force veteran of World War II, foreman at Bouldin Furniture, attended Flint Hill United Methodist Church of Christ, and was a charter member of VFW Post 9899 in Archdale.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Yarbrough Shaw; daughters, Pattie Smith and Janice Nolen, both of Sophia; son, Billy Joe Shaw of Sophia; sister, Anne Lane of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN – Claude Buford Smith, 91, of 501 Pointe South Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

Bertha L. Stringer

ASHEBORO – Bertha Leona Ingold Stringer, 91, of 1070 Cliffwood Drive, formerly of 860 Danwood St., Asheboro, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 30, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Vernon McDaniel officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Clarence E. Stringer and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Edwards of Charlotte and Brenda Stringer of Asheboro; sister, Mable Hethcock of Asheboro; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Willie R. Taylor

LIBERTY – Willie Roscoe Taylor, 79, of 705 W. Dameron St., died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held Jan. 25, 2008, at Evans Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Swaim officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a retired employee of the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Surviving is his daughter, Mary Ann Farris Taylor.

Jeannie F. Thomas

ASHEBORO – Jeannie Foxx Thomas, 58, of 230 E. Presnell St., died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 26, 2008, at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Raymond Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker.

Surviving are her mother, Omega Foxx of Siler City; daughter, Tina Rankin of Salisbury; sons, Jermaine Thomas of Orange Park, Fla., and Mario Thomas of Salisbury; sisters, Gwendolyn Baldwin of St. Charles, Mo., and Cora Glover of Lemon Springs; brothers, Lofus Foxx, Conway Foxx, Glenn Foxx and Joe Foxx, all of Siler City, Eddie Foxx of Saginaw, Mich., and Henry Foxx of Cleveland, Ohio.

STALEY – Ethel Rhodes Williams, of 7768 Doe Run Trail, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at her home.

The funeral was held Jan. 28, 2008, at Connected Bridges Outreach Ministries in Asheboro.

Surviving are her daughters, Theresa Godfrey of Staley, and Mary Williams and Syreeta Williams, both of Greensboro; sons, James Williams of Huntingdon, Pa., and Russell Gray of Liberty; sisters, Shirley Mae Best and Leolia Best, both of New Bern; brother, Lawrence Rhodes of New Bern; 15 grandchildren.

RAMSEUR – James Theodore York, 69, of 5166 Gracewood Road, Ramseur, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehab.
