ASHEBORO – James Junior Baxter, 61, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Bishop Robert Hilburn officiating. Burial was in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was a native of Englewood, Tenn., owner and operator of J&R Heating and Air Conditioning Service, a former member of the Tabernacle Lions Club and attended Leviner Memorial Church of the Living God in High Point.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ruth Myers Baxter of the home; mother, Martha Baxter of Tennessee; daughters, Marilyn Barnett, Tammy Baxter, both of Tennessee and Jamie Smith of Asheboro; sons, Norman Baxter, Michael Baxter, Brian Baxter, Doyle Baxter and Darrell Baxter, all of Tennessee; sisters, Evelyn Bunch and Thelma Roberson, both of Tennessee; brothers, Billy Baxter, Leroy Baxter, Eddie Baxter, Kenneth Baxter and Don Baxter all of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren.
Frances S. Brown
ASHEBORO – Frances Snider Brown, 83, of 1312 Mack Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with Dr. Dwight Ayers officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of John W. Brown and a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda B. Coleman of Asheboro; son, Jerry R. Brown of Archdale; sisters, Gertrude S. Small and Mary Lee Green, both of Asheboro and Annie Mae Rush of Cary; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

Franklin D. Brown Sr.
RANDLEMAN – Franklin Delano Brown Sr., 69, of 2772 Herman's Old Place, Hamptonville, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
A private memorial service was held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W. Va.
He was a native of McDowell County, W.Va., the widower of Barbara Parks Brown, a retired coal miner and a member of Worthville Baptist Church in Randleman.
Surviving are his son, Glenn "Whitey" Brown of Greensboro; daughters, Debra Leach of Seagrove, Wanda Wright and Lugene Acord, both of Asheboro, and Susan Carter of Hamptonville; brother, Eugene Brown of Warren Cliff, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
W. Ronnie Cagle
ASHEBORO – Walter Ronald Cagle, 58, of 2580 Danny Bell Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his home.
The funeral was held Dec. 27, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Daniel Thames officiating. Burial was in Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery.
He was native of Randolph County and veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Maria P. Cagle of the home; daughter, Gentia C. Spruce of Siler City; sons, Kevin Tucker of Asheboro and Cody Cagle and Josh Cagle, both of Asheboro; mother, Lucy L. Cagle of Farmer; sisters, Brenda C. Vuncannon of Asheboro and Margie C. Nance of Farmer; three grandchildren.

THOMASVILLE – Pearl Crotts Hill Cole, 99, of Thomasville, died Dec. 23, 2007, at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Carl S. Hill and Roger R. Cole, a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving are her foster son, Robert A. Ledbetter of Trinity; sister, Lily Ennis of Trinity; brothers, Wayne Crotts, Roy Crotts and Reese Crotts, all of Trinity; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Hazel Virginia Howell Cox, 95, of 2896 Woodland Trail, Asheboro, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.
The funeral was held Dec. 27, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Ralph Clayton and the Rev. Ron Terry officiating. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Community Church Cemetery in Asheboro.
She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of William Waldon Cox and a homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Flossie Long of the home and Gladys Craven of Asheboro; sister, Lucille H. Jefferies of Raleigh; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

SOPHIA – Lucille Snider Davis, 90, of 3912 Nelson Road, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
A graveside service was held Dec. 24, 2007, at Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery in Sophia, with the Rev. John Sides officiating.
She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Byron Reece Davis of the home; daughter, Kay Davis Taylor of Sophia; son, Tommy Davis of Sophia; sisters, Frances Brown, Mary Lee Green, Gertrude Small, all of Asheboro, and Annie Mae Rush of Cary; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

RAEFORD – MaeBelle Collins English, 86, of 225 Mason St., Raeford, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at her home.
A graveside service was held Dec. 28, 2007, at Bailey's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Paul Thomas officiating.
She was a native of Hoke County, the widow of Winfred Gilbert English, a member of Bailey's Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving are her son, Clarence English of Raeford; sisters, Arlene Hartley of California and Sue Davis of Raeford; brother, Donnie Collins of Emerald Isle; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN – Carrie Newell Gray, 87, of 2530 Walnut Ridge Road, Randleman, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Randolph Health & Rehab in Asheboro.
The funeral was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with the Rev. Dane Waggoner officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County and was retired from the textile industry.
Surviving are her daughter, Marie Jones of Roanoke, Va.; son, David Gray of Randleman; sister, Lillie Owens of Randleman; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Kenneth Kapson
RANDLEMAN – Kenneth Kapson, 69, #6 Hemlock, Gouldsboro, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Randleman, with Father Christopher Davis officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., a retired New York City fire fighter and New York City fire marshal, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Pocono Springs Civic Association and owned and operated KJ's Feed and Seed Co.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Kapson of Asheboro; son, Kenneth J. Kapson of Carrollton, Texas; sisters, Carole Timko and Christine Torre, both of Staten Island, N.Y., Rosalind Sweeney of Queens, N.Y. and Susan Turtletaub of Tamarac, Fla.
Fairlee B. Kirkman
RANDLEMAN – Fairlee Beane Kirkman, 91, of 111 W. River Drive, Randleman, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Kindred Hospital.
A graveside service was held Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Carswell officiating.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Frank Kirkman and a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.

Khampha Mingkhouan
ASHEBORO – Khampha Mingkhouan, 76, of 4842 Waynick Meadow Road, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at her home.

She was a native of Laos.
Surviving are her daughters, Sakhone Mingkhouan of Asheboro, Pany Chaiboun MIngkhouan and Souksangouan Mingkhouan, both of Raleigh, and Thippaoun Mingkhouan of Thailand; sons, Lamdouan Mingkhouan of Sydney, Australia, Chansamone Mingkhouan of Chicago, Ill., and Phaengphanh Mingkhouan of Chesapeake, Va.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

DENTON – Katherine "Kathy" Fuller Koonce Nance, 58, of 376 Garner St., Denton, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral was held Dec. 30, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Methodist Church Cemetery in Jackson Creek.
She was a native of Lenoir County and was retired from Denton Elementary School.
Surviving are her husband, Morris D. Nance of the home; sons, Ricky Carowan and John Ireland; stepson, Daniel Nance; brothers, Nick Koonce and Danny Koonce; eight grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN – Jimmy Lee Owens, 48, of 607 Booker T. Womble Road, Randleman, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at his home.
A memorial service was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman.
He was a native of Randolph County.
Surviving are his son, Jesse Owens of Randleman; mother, Nancy Lou Moore; sisters, Kathy Sykes of Randleman, Debbie Claytor of Hillsborough and Denise Apple of Efland; brother, Brian Keith Owens of Randleman; one grandchild.

A graveside service was held Dec. 29, 2007, at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, with Carol Nolan and Sylvia Foxworth officiating.
He was a native of Halifax County, Va., and was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Pamela R. McKinnon of Asheboro, Cindy Keesee of Asheboro and Jacqueline R. Lippard of Clayton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

ASHEBORO – Theo Marie Poole Sexton, formerly of Old Farmer Road, died Friday, Dec. 21,2007, at Cross Road Rest & Retirement Center in Asheboro.
The funeral was held Dec. 27, 2007, at West Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Charles Lindquist officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Hobert Sexton, a graduate of Farmer High School, retired from Bossong Hosiery Mill and later worked at Vestal's Day Care.
Surviving are her son, H. Dean Sexton of Southport; brother, Hinton Poole of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Bluefield, W.Va., and a registered nurse.
Surviving are her husband, Randy Stafford of the home; daughter, Nikki Stanger of Chicago, Ill.; son, Adam Stafford of the home; stepdaughter, Sarah Pike of Asheboro; mother, Eva Stanger of Bluewell, W.Va.; brothers, Joseph Stanger of Princeton, W.Va., and Albert Stanger of Bluewell, W.Va.
Margaret E. Trotter
ASHEBORO – Margaret Ellison Trotter, 85, formerly of Dover Street, Asheboro, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
The funeral was held Dec. 26, 2007, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Russ Ward and Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, retired from the Randolph County Tax Department and also volunteered for the Randolph County Senior Adults Association.
Surviving are her husband, Ed Trotter of the home; daughters, Cindy Ehni of Atlanta, Ga., Eliza Ellison of Atlanta, Ga., and Pat Threadgill of Asheboro; son, James "Jamie" E. Trotter Jr. of Charlotte; sisters, Dora E. Peterson of Williamsburg, Va., and Lillie E. Holliday of Ramseur; four grandchildren.
