Milton B. Barden
ASHEBORO - Milton B. Barden, 71, of 131 N. Randolph Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
A memorial service was held Feb. 23, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church, with Dr. Mark J. Key officiating. Burial was Feb. 23 at Barden Family Farm in Farmville.
He was a native of Greenville, a member of Central United Methodist Church and a former teacher and coach in Delaware, Bryson City and at Eastern Randolph High School. He was retired from Walker Shoe Company.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Rose Hanson Barden of the home; daughter, Elizabeth Rose Taylor of the home; son, Steve B. Barden of Benson; brother, the Rev. Lawrence E. Barden of Kannapolis; three grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Nancy Ruth Swaim Hoover Beasley, 73, of 4078 U.S. 64 West, Asheboro, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at her home.
The funeral was held Feb. 20, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Edwards and the Rev. George Robinson officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Joe Kinley Hoover, attended Gospel Baptist Church in Archdale and was a homemaker.
Surviving are her daughters, Debra Watson of Gibsonville, Renee Butler of Asheboro; sons, Vernon Phillips Jr. of the home, Tony Joe Hoover of Asheboro; sisters, Mary Dixon of Asheboro, Linda Peck and Brenda Goins, both of Randleman; brothers, Thomas Eugene Swaim of Randleman, Donald Richard Swaim of Siler City; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Robert Dennis Crowley, 90, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Charlotte.
A private graveside service was held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
He was a native of Milwaukee, Wis., the widower of Dorothy Armstrong Crowley, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, formerly employed with the FBI, a former resident of Asheboro, employed with the knitted garment industry, a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, past president of the Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Bell Benoit Crowely; daughter, Christine C. Andrews of Raleigh; stepson, W. Curtis Benoit of Kannapolis; stepdaughter, Sally B. Green of Charlotte; brother, Michael T. Crowely of Mequon, Wis.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - Nathan Tyler Dawson, 6, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at his home.
A celebration of life service was held Feb. 20, 2008, at Agape Faith Church, Clemmons.
He was a native of Guilford County.
Surviving are his parents, Kevin and Brenda Mauney Dawson; brother, Caleb Dawson; maternal grandparents, Joanne and Michael Mauney; paternal grandparents, Cindy and Bill Dawson.

TRINITY - Glenna "Sissy" Haithcock, 44, of Trinity, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.
The funeral was held Feb. 26, 2008, at Straightway Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Smith and the Rev. Billy Hedgecock officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Davidson County, a graduate of Johnson Street Special Education School in High Point, attended the Adult Day Care Program in Randolph County and was a member of Straightway Baptist Church in High Point.
Surviving are her mother and step-father, Darlene Osborne and Charlie Osborne of Trinity; brothers, Marshall Osborne of Orangeburg, S.C. and Dean Osborne of Randleman; sister, Wanda Hodge of High Point; grandparents, Monroe and Ruby Hall of Sophia.

ASHEBORO - Mary A. Harrison, 98, of 918 Arnold St., died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at her home.
The funeral was held Feb. 22, 2008, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Tiajuana Mosby officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Hampton University with a B.A. and a graduate of North Carolina A&T University with a master's degree, she was a retired educator.

STALEY - Angela Headen Hickman, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
The funeral service was held Feb. 23, 2008, at St. James Baptist Church, Greensboro. Burial was in Amos Cemetery, Liberty.
Surviving are her husband, Granville Hickman Jr. of the home; mother, Joann Marley Headen of Greensboro; sister, Karen Headen Muse of Greensboro; grandmother, Dora Lee Marley of Ramseur.

STALEY - John Robinson Hunsucker, 61, of 203 E. Franklinville St., Staley, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was a native of Spartanburg, S.C. and was a retired self-employed painter.

Hunsucker of Staley; daughter, Jeanette Gutierrez-Ortega of Staley; stepdaughters, Ramona Garrett of Liberty and Ella Bray of Staley; son, John Rodney Hunsucker of Windsor; stepson, Kenneth Garrett of Staley; sisters, Betty Scotton of Staley, Florence Spencer of Asheboro, Elizabeth Yarborough of Hickory; brother, Richard Cox of Pensacola, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - Howard Jennings Sr., 69, of 6487 Georgia Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro.
The funeral was held Feb. 22, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Randleman, with the Rev. Junior Dawkins, the Rev. Alvin Powell and the Rev. C.J. York officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
He was a native of Boissevain, Va., the widower of Patricia Lucille Jennings, attended Worthville Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver with Cone Mills.
Surviving are his sons, Howard "Jack" Jennings Jr., Charles "Chuck" Jennings, Michael "Mike" Jennings, all of Level Cross and Richard "Rick" Jennings of Biscoe; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

LEXINGTON - Jesse David Jones, 82, of 815 Riverwood Road, formerly of Asheboro, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.
The funeral was held Feb. 26, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Elder Johnny Gardner officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Surry County, retired from Energizer, attended Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Nola Williamson Jones of the home; daughter, Gail Jones Rector of the home; son, David Carlton Jones of Seagrove; brothers, Paul Jones of Seagrove, Hoyle Jones of Mt. Airy; one grandchild.

ASHEBORO - Lester Harold "Hal" Knight Jr., 69, of 1848 Laura Court, Asheboro, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.
A memorial service was held Feb. 23, 2008, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dr. L. Everett Thomas and the Rev. Jack Ogburn officiating. Military honors were provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., a graduate of New Hanover High School, Wilmington and the University of Georgia, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, previous owner of Caraway Packaging in High Point, former vice president and designer for Tie Rite Neckwear, owner of Phylby's Art Gallery, High Point and owner and operator of DAK Associates Gate and Fence Builders.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Knight of the home; four children; brother, Tom Knight of Martinez, Ga.; three grandchildren.

She was a native of Mecklenburg County, a member of Friendship Baptist Church, formerly employed with Prudential Insurance and Travelers Insurance of High Point, a staff nurse at High Point Regional Hospital and volunteered at Victory Junction Gang Camp.
Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Lippard; daughter, Tara Lippard Hiatt of the home; son, Travis Lippard of Randleman; mother, Marie Diggs McDonald; sister, Kaye McDonald Shaver of Sophia; brother, Bob McDonald of Warrenton, Va.

He was a native of Grundy, Va., and employed with the Randolph County Landfill.

ASHEBORO - William Lorimor Nance, 80, of Asheboro died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at E. Carlton Powell Hospice in Lillington.
The funeral was held Feb. 23, 2008, at Miller-Boles Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Barnes and the Rev. Jesse Williams officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
He was a native of Bladen County, the widow of Hazel Christine Nance, a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a minister.

He was a native of Statesville, retired from the Bassett Furniture Company, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Baker Sisk of the home; daughter, Alisha Renegar of Statesville; stepdaughter, Anita Walker of Liberty; brother, Jack Leroy Sisk of Troutman; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren.

He was a native of Florala, Ala., a graduate of Surry Central High School, Mt. Airy and Central Texas College, employed with Townsends, Inc., Siler City, attended Farmer United Methodist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves serving in "Iraqi Freedom".
Surviving are his wife, Camela Hammond Thomas; son, Tucker Thomas; daughters, Rachel Thomas and Anika Thomas, all of the home; parents, Bob and Joyce Thomas of Paxton, Fla.; sisters, Leisha Lanz of Lake George, Colo., Meloney Tunnage of Troy, Mo., Kim Kettelhodt of Summerville, S.C., DeeDee Reece of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; brother, Rob Thomas of Dobson; grandmother, Callie Hunt of Paxton, Fla.
