A group of young women from Southeastern Randolph Middle School recently saw firsthand that it is never too early to begin planning for college. The 28, all participants in the Ladies In Leadership program, visited High Point University and Randolph Community College on April 8. The focus of the college visits was for these girls, who might not have envisioned college in their futures, to learn about local educational opportunities.
The students took a tour of each campus. High Point University featured new additions including a student center featuring state-of-the-art exercise equipment, an outdoor swimming pool and classrooms equipped with the most up-to-date technology available. The students learned that programs in home furnishings and design are available to them at HPU, and that degree programs in gaming systems and television production are forthcoming.
The Ladies In Leadership program at Southeastern Randolph Middle School is supported by Communities In Schools of Randolph County through a grant from the Randolph Hospital Community Health Foundation, an endowment supporting Randolph Hospital and funding the health and wellness projects of community non-profits.
