James Allred

ASHEBORO — James Luther "Luke" Allred, 70, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Randolph Hospice House. 

The funeral was held Nov. 10 at Loflin Funeral Home with the Rev. Dane Waggoner presiding. Burial with military rites was at Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery. 

He was a Randolph County native, Army veteran and retired from Randolph Electric.  

Surviving are wife, Linda Swaim Allred of the home; stepdaughter, Dianne Hudyncia of Greensboro; mother, Lura H. Allred of Asheboro; sisters, Ruth Luther, Helen Hill, Gladys Swaim, all of Asheboro; brothers, Odell Allred, Jerry Allred, Charles Allred, Harold Allred, all of Asheboro; two stepgrandchildren.

Rosa Aydelette

LIBERTY — Rosa "Peggy" Stout Aydelette, 84, of Liberty died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

A memorial service was held Nov. 11 at Bethany Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Ben W. Aydelette; children, Sue, Peggy Jo, Rick, Wallace, Nancy, Kelly; sister, Betty Collier; brother, Hal Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Kate Brewer

ASHEBORO — Kate Sanders Brewer, 93, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. 

The funeral was held Nov. 12 at Pugh Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Hall presiding. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery. 

She was a Randolph County native, widow of Craig Brewer, formerly employed by Bossong, Acme-McCrary, Sew Special and Shapiro & Shapiro, and member of First Baptist Church. 

Surviving are stepson, B.J. Brewer of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Kristen Brewer of San Francisco; sister, Vellie Sanders Stutts of Asheboro.

Kathryne Brown

RANDLEMAN — Kathryne White Brown, 94, formerly of Randolph County, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Maryville, Tenn.  

The funeral was held Nov. 13 at First Methodist Church, Randleman, where she was a member, with Kyle Thompson presiding. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park. 

She was the widow of Hal M. Brown, a member of Randleman Women's Club and Asheboro Business and Professional Women's Club, retired accountant, former member of N.C. Society of Accountants and a Randleman Public Library trustee. 

Surviving are daughter, Marilynn Pittard of Walland, Tenn.; son, Hal M. Brown Jr. of Mission Viejo, Calif.; brother, Clyde Graham White of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren.

Earl Callicutt

ASHEBORO — Earl Sylvester Callicutt, 83, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Randolph Hospice House.

The funeral was held Nov. 9 at Russell's Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Edwin Luther presiding. Burial with military rites was at the church cemetery.

He was a Guilford County native, Korean War veteran and retired from Klaussner Furniture.

Surviving are wife, Thelma Chriscoe Callicutt of the home; sons, Gary L. Callicutt, Tony Callicutt, both of Asheboro; brother, F. Wade Callicutt of West Memphis, Ark.; sisters, Virginia Callicutt Leviner of Siler City, Joyce Luther of Asheboro; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

 

Graham Chriscoe

SEAGROVE — Graham Jennings Chriscoe, 84, of 2719 US 220 Alt. N., died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home. 

The funeral was held Nov. 11 at Asbury Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Wilson, the Rev. Clay Davis and Charles Carter presiding. Burial was at the church cemetery. 

He was a Moore County native, a building contractor and owner of Graham Chriscoe Pottery. 

Surviving are wife, Martha Odom Chriscoe of the home; daughters, Carolyn Ann Chriscoe Brown of Seagrove, Belinda Dawn Chriscoe Artimovich of Atlanta; son, Michael Ray Chriscoe of Seagrove; brothers, Colvin Henry Chriscoe, Gilbert Eugene Chriscoe, Bernice James "B.J." Chriscoe, Bradley Cagle Chriscoe, all of Seagrove; sisters, Edna Lou Tillman of Hampton, Va., Marie Cattie Chriscoe of Asheboro, Judy Ellen Rice of Jamestown; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Beulah Cooper

RANDLEMAN — Beulah Carrick Suits Cooper, 83, of 328 Small Road, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at her home. 

The funeral was held Nov. 7 at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Hunter presiding. Burial was at St. Paul Church cemetery.

She was a Davidson County native, widow of Charles Cooper, retired from Laughlin Hosiery and member of the Church of God. 

Surviving are children, Linda Morris of Gladys, Va., Donald Suits, Debbie O'Brien, Phyllis Reaves, all of Randleman; brother, Bryce Carrick; sisters, Frances Williams Anderson, Hazel Weaver Caldwell; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

James Edwards

ASHEBORO — James Speight "Jack" Edwards, 89, of 2656 Hayfield Drive, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation. 

The funeral was held Nov. 8 at Mountain of Faith Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ed Carter and the Rev. Thurman Williams presiding. Burial was at the church cemetery. 

He was a Chatham County native and a retired carpenter and cattle farmer. 

Surviving are wife, Dorcas A. Edwards of the home; daughter, Nancy E. Cox of Erect; son, Larry Allen Edwards of Apex; two grandchildren.

Erwin Gordon

ASHEBORO — Erwin Bryson Gordon, 91, of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at The Meadows of Rockwell.

A graveside service was held Nov. 10 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Dr. Richard Crider presiding.

He was a Union County native, widower of Lillian Thompson Gordon, World War II Army Air Force veteran, Wingate College graduate, retired from Griffin Implement Co., worked for Ridge Funeral Home, a Mason and Rotarian. 

Surviving is sister, Beth Simpson of Monroe.

Harold Hawkins Sr.

SOPHIA — Harold Clifford “Hawkeye” Hawkins Sr., 78, of Sophia, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at his home. 

A graveside service was held Nov. 12 at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, Kernersville, with the Rev. Roger Porter presiding.

He was a Stokes County native, widower of Dorcas Cruthis Hawkins, member of New Heights Baptist Church, Korean War Army veteran and retired from Markay Furniture. 

Surviving are children, Harold C. Hawkins Jr., Barry Joe Hawkins, Charles Lee Hawkins, all of High Point, Christine Lohr Bauer of Joplin, Mo., Steven Ray Hawkins of Thomasville, Angie Hardin Vestal of Asheboro; sister, Margret Walden of Thomasville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. 

 

Alexis Herbert

RAMSEUR — Alexis LaShae Herbert, 10, of Ramseur, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

The funeral was held Nov. 12 at Holly's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

Surviving are mother, Kristen Johnson of the home; father, Charles Herbert of Liberty; sister, Chawnisty Waden; brothers, DJ Daye,

Leroy Johnson

STALEY — Leroy Johnson, 74, of 6852 Brookdale Road, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Chatham Hospital.

The funeral was held Nov. 7 at Farrar Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Brown presiding.

 

Christopher Lawing

RANDLEMAN — Christopher Michael Lawing, 29, of 101 River Park, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital. 

A service will be held later.

He was a Randolph County native and employed by D&D Enterprises.  

Surviving are mother, Brenda Dotson Siers of Sophia; father, Steve Lawing of Anderson, S.C.; sister, Christy Lawing of Anderson, S.C.; brother, Stephen Lawing of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandparents, James T. Dotson Jr. of Randleman, Maxie Lawing of Yadkinville. 

 

Raymond Love

RAMSEUR — Raymond Lamar Love, 71, of 1357 Salisbury St., died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation. 

The funeral was held Nov. 10 at Loflin Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Johnson and the Rev. Burton King presiding. Burial with military rites was at Randolph Memorial Park. 

He was a Richmond County native, retired owner of Windshield Repair Service and attended the Church of God of Prophecy. 

Surviving are wife, Martha Whitehead Love of the home; stepdaughters, Faylene Whitaker, Lisa Coley, Sherry Dawkins, Keela Dawkins, all of Climax, Christine Flinchum of Ramseur; sisters, Jean Wise of Florence, S.C., Brenda Faye Love, Carol Love Morris, both of Sanford; brother, Henry K. Love of Troy; 10 stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Edna Moody

ASHEBORO — Edna Oneida Hall Moody, 92, of Asheboro, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation.

The funeral was held Nov. 8 at Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Reaves presiding. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a Randolph County native, widow of Everett J. Moody, member of Balfour Baptist Church and retired from Commonwealth Hosiery. 

Surviving are son, E. John Moody of Alexander City, Ala.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Lesia Nelson

SEAGROVE — Lesia Wilson Nelson, 90, formerly of Seagrove, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living of Candor.

The funeral was held Nov. 8 at Woodfern Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Moffitt presiding. Burial was at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was a Randolph County native and retired from Luck's.

Surviving are daughter, Melesa Nelson Wright of Seagrove; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren.

Doris Ragsdale

ASHEBORO — Doris Auman Ragsdale, 72, of 2453 Rockwood Road, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Randolph Hospital. 

The funeral was held Nov. 8 at Pugh Funeral Home with Pastor John Muse presiding. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park. 

She was a Randolph County native, widow of Sherman Franklin Ragsdale, Asheboro High School graduate, retired from Klaussner Furniture and formerly attended Quaker Heights Friends Meeting.  

Surviving are daughter, April R. Reyes of Asheboro; son, Frank Ragsdale of Greensboro; brother, Richard Auman of Burlington; sisters, Ruby Owenby of Asheboro, Betsy Mosteller of High Point; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Gene Tucker

HIGH POINT— James “Gene” Tucker, 74, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital. 

The funeral was held Nov. 13 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Gene was a Henry County, Va., native, widower of Linda Griffin Tucker and retired from Trinity Frame.

Surviving are son, Jeffrey Scott Tucker of Thomasville; stepsons, Dale Roach of Trinity, James Roach of High Point; sister, Louise Rulene Carroll of Jamestown; brothers, Aaron Tucker, Ronnie Tucker, both of Trinity; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren. 

 

Bonnie Vanhuss

RANDLEMAN — Bonnie Lindsey Vanhuss, 87, of Randleman, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Randolph Hospice House. 

The funeral was held Nov. 8 at First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Don Hurlburt and the Rev. Alvin Newcombe presiding. Burial was at Red Cross Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a Clinton, Tenn., native, widow of Elmer Vanhuss and retired from Laughlin Hosiery. 

Surviving are sons, James Vanhuss, Leroy Vanhuss, both of Randleman; daughter, Della Marshall of Belton, S.C.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Faye Ward

RAMSEUR — Faye Cain Ward, 69, of 828 Ward Farm Road, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her home. 

A graveside service was held Nov. 9 at Ward Family Cemetery with the Rev. John Gunter and the Rev. Mark Wilborn presiding. 

She was a Randolph County native and a farmer.  

Surviving are husband, Phillip Ward of the home; sons, Neil Ward of Robbins, Bill Ward of Ramseur; mother, Hattie Lois Cain Staley of Ramseur; brother, David Cain of Ramseur; two grandchildren.

ASHEBORO — Dwight Allen Waters, 76, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

The funeral was held Nov. 7 at Grace Baptist Church, Kinston, with the Rev. Bill Bradley and the Rev. Greg Arnold presiding.

 

Billy Williamson

SEAGROVE — Billy Glenn Williamson, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. 

Visitation was Nov. 7 at Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial was at Pine Rest Cemetery. 

He was a Moore County native and retired from Ramtex. 

Surviving are son, Tony Williamson of Seagrove; daughter, Elizabeth Adams of Troy; sister, Louvene Maness of Seagrove; four grandchildren.
