Michael Aaron

RANDLEMAN – King Michael Aaron, 64, of 4262 Red Oak Drive, Randleman, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at his home.

The funeral was held April 19, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Asheboro with Bishop Gary Cecil officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.

He was a native of Los Angeles, Calif., retired from Goodyear Wire Plant, a former truck driver and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Sharp Aaron; sons, Tony Aaron of Raeford and Mark Aaron of Silk Hope; stepsons, Stephen Rich of New Jersey and Michael Rich of Snow Camp; sister, Pam Neff of West Jordan, Utah; four grandchildren.

Althea C. Auman

SEAGROVE – Rosa Althea Chrisco Auman, 84, of 3863 U.S. 220 Alt N., died Friday, April 18, 2008, at her home.

The funeral was held April 20, 2008, at Asbury Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joshua Hughes and the Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Farrell W. Auman Sr., retired from Luck’s Inc. and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Williams of Candor and Cheryl Comer of Seagrove; sons, Farrell W. Auman, Terry Auman and Michael D. Auman, all of Seagrove; sister, Mozelle Garner of Seagrove; brother, Grant Chrisco of Seagrove; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

Colvin Boone

ASHEBORO – Arthur Colvin Boone, 87, of 148 S. McCrary St., Asheboro, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

A graveside service was held April 19, 2008, at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating.

He was a native of Moore County, the widower of Sarah Byrd Boone, an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Acme-McCrary Corp. and a member of Asheboro Friends Meeting.

Surviving are his daughter, Phyllis Sezter of Hickory; brothers, Clifton Boone of Asheboro and Lonnie Boone of Biscoe; three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Clarice H. Brower

ASHEBORO – Clarice Mae Henley Brower, 93, of 613 Worth St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral was held April 18, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro with the Rev. Barry L. Queen officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Otis Brower, a 1933 graduate of Asheboro High School, a homemaker and a member of Central United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Stanley Brower of Asheboro and David Brower of Elon; brothers, Alfred Henley of San Francisco, Calif., and Joseph Henley of Vallejo, Calif;. three grandchildren.

Iris E. Bufflap

ASHEBORO – Iris Elizabeth Bufflap, 85, formerly of 130 S. Elm St., died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home.

The funeral was held April 17, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Asheboro with the Rev. Mark Hall and the Rev. Koy Lee Haywood officiating.

She was a native of Rose Hill, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, former teacher at Donna Lee Loflin Elementary School, a member of First Baptist Church and was very active in civic and community activities.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Bufflap Keller of Charlotte; sister, Lyda H. Patterson of Hickory; brother, Dr. William B. Herring of Brown Summit; one grandchild.

Norma Callahan

ASHEBORO – Norma Kivett Callahan, 60, of 543 Burney Road, Asheboro, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at her home.

The funeral was held April 21, 2008, at High Pine Wesleyan Church in Asheboro with the Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of High Pine Wesleyan Church, formerly employed with General Electric and Black & Decker and recently at the Merita Bread Store.

Surviving are her husband, William Franklin Callahan; son, Todd Callahan of Asheboro; brothers, Clyde Lacy Kivett of Ramseur and Donald Craig Kivett of Eden; five grandchildren.

Magdalene R. Cranford

RANDLEMAN – Magdalene Richardson Cranford, 84, of 751 Worthville St., Randleman, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held April 18, 2008, at Randleman Church of God with the Rev. Troy Wilhelm officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Leslie L. Cranford, retired from Salem Neckwear and a member of Randleman Church of God.

Surviving are her daughters, Geri Dennis, Carolyn Pearce, Marcella Fowler and Barbara Pearce, all of Randleman; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Earl Keene

ASHEBORO – Earland Lee “Earl” Keene, 58, of 1132 McDowell Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral was held April 22, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with the Rev. Gary Cubbage and the Rev. Sam Hicks officiating.

He was a native of High Point and was retired from marketing and advertising.

Surviving are his mother, Gladis Marie Hubbard Keene of Asheboro; son, Joseph Keene of Asheboro; daughter, Carrie Ann Dorrity of Asheboro; sister, Janice K. Small of Randleman; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; two stepdaughters.

Marjorie F. Roach

RAMSEUR – Marjorie Frazier Roach, 82, of Ramseur, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral was held April 18, 2008, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Moger and Kevin Franklin officiating. Burial was in Kildee Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Burlington Industries and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Ramseur.

Surviving are her nieces, Jo Ann Burgess Brickhouse of Sanford and Doris Frazier Baldwin of Raleigh.

Alan L. Shaw

ASHEBORO – Alan Lee Shaw, 59, of 4784 Waynick Meadow Road, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his home.

A private service was held.

He was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, a graduate of Medara High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a volunteer fireman for 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Shaw of the home; daughter, Theresa Reinhart of Farmer; son, Keneth Shaw of Newton Falls, Ohio; mother, Esther Shaw of Greenville, S.C.; sister, June Shaw of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren.



Mary L. Simmons

RAMSEUR – Mary Lois Stout Simmons, 85, of 5126 Gracewood Road, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held April 20, 2008, at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Kelley and the Rev. James Turner officiating. Burial was in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Ram Tie & Separation and was a member of Parks Cross Roads Christian Church.

Surviving are her son, Mickey Simmons of Ramseur; daughter, Linda Kennedy of Ramseur; brother, Dwight Stout of Ramseur; sister, Nancy Moffitt of Ramseur; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Ruby M. Smith

ASHEBORO – Ruby Miller Smith, 73, of 4116 Old N.C. 49, Asheboro, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

The funeral was held April 17, 2008, at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Shook officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Lee H. Smith, and was retired from Lassiter Sportswear.

Surviving are her sons, Roger Smith of Asheboro, David Smith of the home, Jerry Smith of Asheboro and Rick Smith of Greensboro; daughters, Kathy Smith of the home, Susie Pines of Raleigh, Linda Wall of Ramseur and Lorrie Varner of Asheboro; brother, David Miller of Greenville; sisters, Gloria Auman, Vivian Miller, Sarah Hughes, Sandy Miller and Debbie McElreath, all of Asheboro; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Clarence C. Williard

ASHEBORO – Clarence Calvin Williard, 82, 181 Carriage Way Road, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro.

The funeral was held April 16, 2008, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro with Charles Reeder officiating. Burial was in Epworth Methodist Church Cemetery in Cana, Va.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Stuart Furniture.

Surviving are sisters, Elois Joyce of Asheboro and Hazel Hill of Randleman.
