Efforts to build a permanent football stadium for Asheboro High School will be revived this week as members of the Asheboro Jaycees join the drive to raise an additional $20,000 for the project.
The funds will be added to the $30,000 already contributed in hopes that the stadium will be completed in time for the opening of the 1959 season.
The Jaycees voted to take on the project at the recommendation of the board of directors. Tyler Lisk was named general chairman. The proposed stadium would include permanent concrete stands on the north side of the playing field with a seating capacity of some 2,500. Wooden bleachers would continue to be used on the south side.
